Job summary

Te Whatu Ora - Health New Zealand is seeking a Payroll Technical and Compliance Specialist in Canterbury to provide technical expertise across payroll systems, configurations and legislative compliance. You will test changes, validate data, and ensure timely payments while maintaining data integrity across PSe, Leader and WFD.

Qualifications

• Relevant graduate or postgraduate qualification in IT or related discipline.
• Five years' payroll experience in a large, complex environment.
• Strong understanding of payroll legislation including Holidays Act 2003 and KiwiSaver Act.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Experience with payroll system testing, data validation and QA.

Responsibilities

• Assure payroll system changes comply with employment, tax and payroll legislation.
• Oversee testing, QA and documentation validation for payroll changes.
• Monitor data integrity across PSe, Leader and Workforce Dimensions; investigate discrepancies.
• Develop, review and validate payroll exception reports and pay-cycle checks.
• Provide specialist payroll advice and resolve complex payroll system/data issues.
• Deliver training and update procedures to strengthen team capability.
• Identify opportunities to automate processes and improve system functionality.
