Job summary

PAE New Zealand is seeking a Payroll Specialist to own the payroll process for our NZ staff from our Lower Hutt or Christchurch branches. You will ensure compliance with NZ legislation, collaborate with managers for timely timesheet approvals, and maintain accurate employee records.

With five or more years in payroll and advanced Excel skills, you will troubleshoot queries and provide clear payroll guidance, contributing to a smooth, accurate payroll function for ~450 staff.

Qualifications

• Five years of payroll experience with a strong understanding of NZ employment legislation.
• Advanced Excel skills and proficiency with financial systems.
• An eagle eye for accuracy and a knack for managing multiple priorities.
• Excellent communication skills to explain complex issues clearly.

Responsibilities

• Owning the fortnightly, weekly and one-off payroll process for approx. 450 staff, ensuring precision and compliance with NZ legislation.
• Collaborating with managers to get timesheets approved on time.
• Managing employee records, from starters and terminations to deductions.
• Providing timely advice on payroll, leave entitlements, and pay queries.
• Ensuring payroll data is accurate, secure, and up to date.
• Partnering with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot and resolve payroll-related challenges.
