Job summary

Upper Hutt City Council is seeking a Payroll Officer to join our dedicated team. You will assist the Payroll Team Leader in processing and operating our payroll system, ensuring accuracy, confidentiality and timely settlement for staff.

Qualifications

• Experience using HRIS and payroll systems.
• Proven experience in payroll and HR reporting.
• Sound knowledge of NZ payroll legislation and compliance.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Team player with initiative.
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Process payroll accurately, confidentially and on time.
• Maintain accurate payroll records for new starters and changes.
• Prepare payroll reports, leave liability information and Stats NZ reporting.
• Respond to payroll queries from employees and managers.
• Collaborate with Payroll Team Leader, Finance, People and Capability, managers and employees to deliver payroll services.
