About the Organisation

Our client is a large, listed New Zealand organisation with a nationwide footprint and a reputation for operational excellence - supporting a diverse workforce across multiple locations.

The Role

This role offers far more than payroll processing. It's an opportunity to join a payroll function that is actively evolving, where you'll be encouraged to contribute, learn, and grow while helping shape the future state of the team.

Reporting to a highly regarded leader who genuinely enjoys mentoring and developing people, you'll gain hands-on exposure to payroll operations, systems enhancement, reporting, compliance, and process transformation. Ideal for someone with a couple of years of payroll experience, you'll bring energy, curiosity, and a desire to build a long-term career in payroll while learning from some of the best in the field.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing end-to-end payroll processing for both salaried and waged employees
  • Processing salary and wage changes accurately and efficiently
  • Supporting payroll reporting, reconciliations, and compliance activities
  • Maintaining payroll records and ensuring data accuracy across payroll and HR systems
  • Providing high-quality payroll support and advice to employees and managers
  • Assisting with payroll projects and process improvement initiatives
  • Supporting audit requirements and ensuring legislative compliance
Role Requirements

This role isn't necessarily about how many years you've spent in payroll. It's about attitude, ambition, and a genuine desire to become an expert in your field.

You’ll likely be someone who:

  • Is early in their payroll career but hungry to learn and grow
  • Wants to be part of a team that is improving systems, processes, and ways of working
  • Enjoys solving problems and finding better ways to do things
  • Takes pride in accuracy and delivering a great service to internal customers
  • Is resilient, adaptable, and thrives in a fast-paced environment
  • Wants mentorship from a leader who is passionate about developing people
  • Is looking for a genuine career opportunity rather than just their next job

Experience with DataPay would be a distinct advantage, but equally important is your enthusiasm, curiosity, and willingness to learn. For the right person, this role offers an outstanding platform to accelerate your payroll career.
