Job summary

Menzies Aviation in Auckland is seeking a Payroll Officer to join our team for 32 hours per week, delivering accurate and timely payroll services in line with New Zealand legislation and company policy.

This fixed-term, part-time role focuses on processing weekly and fortnightly payrolls, timekeeping, reporting, and maintaining confidentiality of employee data at Auckland Airport.

Qualifications

  • Payroll processing experience in medium to large organisations.
  • Knowledge of New Zealand payroll and employment legislation.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
  • Strong organisation and time management skills.
  • Good problem-solving and root cause analysis abilities.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Proficient with payroll systems and computer literacy.

Responsibilities

  • Process accurate and timely weekly and fortnightly wages and salary payrolls.
  • Collect, check and verify employee timekeeping information.
  • Process payroll adjustments, including short payments and corrections.
  • Maintain accurate employee information in the payroll system, including changes, promotions and leaves.
  • Maintain up-to-date payroll and leave records.
  • Prepare payroll, financial and operational reports as required.
  • Provide accurate payroll information to Finance, HR and Management.
  • Support reporting requirements for Inland Revenue.
  • Ensure payroll records meet internal, audit and customer requirements.
  • Assist with Time & Attendance system maintenance and records.
  • Respond to payroll queries with professional and friendly support.

Role Purpose

To ensure all payroll functions are carried out in an accurate and timely manner in accordance with the company policy and legislation, whilst at the same time providing professional, friendly employee and customer service.

About the role

As our Payroll Officer, you will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day payroll function, ensuring payroll is processed accurately, efficiently, and in accordance with company policies and New Zealand employment legislation.

This is a fixed-term, part-time role for 32 hours per week until 30 June 2027, with the possibility of becoming permanent.

Key responsibilities
  • Processing accurate and timelyweekly and fortnightly wages and salary payrolls.
  • Collecting, checking and verifying employee timekeeping information.
  • Processing payroll adjustments, including short payments and corrections.
  • Maintaining accurate employee information in the payroll system, including personal details, pay changes, promotions, benefits, and leave.
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date payroll and leave records.
  • Preparing payroll, financial and operational reports as required.
  • Providing accurate payroll information to Finance, HR and Management.
  • Supporting reporting requirements forInland Revenue.
  • Ensuring payroll records meet internal, audit and customer requirements.
  • Assisting with the maintenance of Time & Attendance systems and records.
  • Responding to payroll queries and providing professional and friendly support to employees and stakeholders.
  • Maintaining confidentiality of employees and company information.
  • Completing general payroll administration and filing as required.
About you
  • Previous experience inpayroll processing, ideally within a medium to large organization, preferably using MYOB.
  • Good knowledge ofNew Zealand payroll and employment legislation.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
  • Strong organisation and time management skills.
  • Good problem-solving skills and the ability to identify the root cause of payroll issues.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Good computer literacy and confidence working with payroll and other systems.
  • Good planning and analytical skills.
  • The ability to work independently while also being a collaborative team member.
  • A strong commitment to confidentiality and data integrity.
