Job summary

Aotearoa New Zealand Association of Social Workers is seeking an experienced Payroll Manager in Auckland. You will lead end-to-end payroll for a large-scale operation, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely delivery of payroll services.

You will drive process improvements, partner with internal stakeholders to provide strategic payroll insights, and coach a high-performing team to deliver exceptional results. Flexible working arrangements are offered to support your lifestyle.

Qualifications

  • Experience leading end‑to‑end payroll for large operations.
  • Strong knowledge of employment legislation and payroll regulations.
  • Proven track record in process optimization and system improvement.
  • Ability to partner with internal stakeholders and provide strategic insights.
  • Experience coaching and developing high-performing payroll teams.

Are you an experienced payroll professional ready to take the next step in your career? We're looking for a strategic and driven Payroll Manager to lead the delivery of end-to-end payroll services for a large-scale operation. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real impact by driving operational excellence, optimising systems and processes, and leading a high-performing team.

About the Role:

In this key leadership position, you will:

  • Oversee accurate and timely payroll processing across the business.
  • Ensure compliance with employment legislation, taxation, remuneration, and payroll-related regulations.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across payroll systems and processes (experience with Workday and Datapay is advantageous).
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to provide strategic payroll insights that support business objectives.
  • Build and develop a capable team through coaching, mentoring, and knowledge sharing.

You’ll bring significant experience in managing large-scale payroll operations with a strong focus on accuracy, compliance, and process improvement. You’re proactive in staying up-to-date with employment policies and regulations and have a passion for delivering exceptional results while fostering a collaborative team environment.
