Job summary

Yoobee Colleges Wellington Central campus seeks a part-time Teaching Assistant for the Master in Business Informatics programme. The role runs 13 hours per week (5 hours teaching each weekend and 3 hours for coordination), with a start mid-January 2027 for a 12-month fixed-term period.

You will support lecturers, foster student engagement, and help with administrative and practical teaching tasks while upholding Yoobee’s values and Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or higher in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Health Informatics, Data Science, or related field.
• Prior teaching assistance, tutoring, mentoring, or relevant professional experience preferred.
• Familiarity with LMS platforms and academic tools (Blackboard, Moodle, Turnitin).
• Experience with postgraduate students or research activities is advantageous.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and diversity principles.

Responsibilities

• Assist lecturers with classroom preparation, tutorials, and lab sessions.
• Provide student support during and outside of class hours as scheduled.
• Guide students on tools, platforms, and technologies related to Software Engineering and Business Informatics.
• Assist with grading, moderation prep, and administrative follow-up under faculty supervision.
• Help organise student presentations, project milestones, and assessment events.
• Support in setting up online platforms, communication channels, and class resources.
• Attend weekend or evening classes to provide in-session technical and academic support.
• Identify students needing additional support and refer them to appropriate channels.
