Job summary

Dr Mark Donaldson Ltd seeks a part-time ophthalmic technician to support clinical sessions in Auckland Ōrākei, about 25 hours per week. Work mainly with one ophthalmologist and assist two other doctors, performing eye chart testing and intraocular pressure measurements along with Zeiss investigations.

Training is provided, and empathy, accuracy, courtesy, and strong communication are valued over prior instrument experience.

Qualifications

• Training provided.
• Courtesy, patience, and accuracy matter more than prior instrument experience.
• Empathy and good communication skills are necessary.
• Tertiary qualifications and/or previous experience in the role would be helpful but not essential.
• May also be of interest to an optometry graduate.

Responsibilities

• Conduct eye charts and intraocular pressure measurements.
• Assist for one ophthalmologist and two other doctors.
• Perform Zeiss investigations: visual field tests, OCT, retinal photography, Atlas corneal topography, and Atlas dry-eye imaging.
