Job summary

LUCK Venue in Palmerston North is seeking a permanent part-time Kitchen Hand to assist the Kitchen Coordinator with breakfast and lunch duties. You will cover when the Kitchen Coordinator is away and support volunteers in kitchen and food-service activities.

The role focuses on food preparation, cleaning, hygiene, and meeting the nutritional needs of service users within MASH Trust’s LUCK venue environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in kitchen or food-service environments.
• Cooking knowledge and food hygiene compliance.
• Relevant food qualifications and a recognised food hygiene certificate.
• Strong communication, customer-service and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work independently and under pressure.
• A current full New Zealand driver licence.
• A current First Aid Certificate is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Preparing and serving food
• Cleaning and sanitising kitchen and food-preparation areas
• Washing dishes, peeling vegetables and portioning ingredients
• Following food-safety regulations and MASH procedures
• Monitoring stock and minimising food wastage
• Supporting volunteers involved in kitchen and food-service activities
• Helping to meet the nutritional needs and individual preferences of service users
