Job summary

The Wellington City Council is seeking a Community Advisor to join the Community Partnerships and Wellbeing Team on a permanent part-time basis (20 hours per week). The role is Wellington-based with flexibility on which days you work, balancing office presence with community engagement.

You will build connections with mana whenua, diverse communities and partner organisations, facilitate conversations, provide practical advice, and support welfare responses during emergencies as part of a

• Genuine passion for working with communities to enable positive social outcomes.
• Connections with multi-cultural organisations in the Pōneke community and understanding of their strengths and challenges.
• Proven ability to facilitate conversations and bring people together around shared work.
• Experience supporting community-led or partnership responses to social, safety or wellbeing issues.
• Ability to use community insight and evidence to inform practical advice and decision-making.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain relationships with communities, partners and mana whenua.
• Facilitate conversations, navigate perspectives and unite stakeholders around common goals.
• Provide practical advice and practical solutions for community projects and council decisions.
• Support city-wide campaigns and coordinate welfare responses during emergencies.
• Translate community insight into actionable guidance for the council.
