Job summary

Farmlands Co-Operative in Waimate is seeking a part-time team member to provide retail sales and customer service to shareholders. The role runs 3 days per week for 4 hours daily in a fixed-term 12-month contract, with opportunities for development across our farming product range.

You will advise customers on sheep, beef, dry stock and general agricultural products, operate a POS system, and handle stock orders and receipting, with duties including stock display and restocking as needed.

Qualifications

• Experience or background in the farming sector.
• Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage confidently with a wide range of customers.
• Retail sales or customer service experience, ideally in a fast-paced environment.
• Sound computer skills, with confidence using point-of-sale systems and basic administrative tools.
• Ability to carry out the physical requirements of the role, including regular manual handling and lifting up to 25 kg.

Responsibilities

• Providing retail sales and customer service to our shareholders.
• Advising customers on a range of sheep and beef, dry stock and general agricultural products.
• Operating a point of sale (POS) system.
• Completing administrative tasks such as ordering and receipting of stock.
• Restocking and displaying our products.
