Job summary

Vistar Decorators Ltd is seeking experienced painters to join a busy Wellington region team. The role offers full-time permanent employment with a competitive hourly rate and ongoing work across residential and commercial sites.

Expect 30–50 hours per week, with a requirement to work weekends if needed. Own transport is preferred. You will work with a tight-knit team on various projects throughout Wellington.

Qualifications

  • At least 2 years of experience in interior and exterior painting.
  • Level 4 qualification in painting or related field.

Responsibilities

  • Erect access equipment with training and competency.
  • Prepare surfaces by repairing holes, cracks and removing old paint.
  • Protect surrounding areas by covering with cloth or plastic.
  • Apply paints, varnishes and stains using brushes, rollers and sprays.
  • Cut and hang wallpaper, vinyl and backing paper.
  • Clean brushes and tools and tidy work areas.
  • Use appropriate materials and safety guidelines for completion of works.
  • Keep records of materials used on each project.
  • Attend mandatory training and development courses.
  • Perform other tasks as requested by the employer.

join our busy team.

WHAT WE OFFER

  • Competitive hourly rate: from $27 to $30 per hour (based on skills and experience)
  • Work hour: minimum 30 hours per week, maximum 50 hours per week

  • Working with a tight-knit team on residential & commercial sites throughout Wellington region.
WHAT WE REQUIRE
  • At least 2-year of experience in interior and exterior painting/plastering, working on residential or commercial projects OR level 4 qualification in painting or a related field.
  • Flexibility to work on weekends if required

  • Are available to work long hours and have the ability to work within tight deadlines
  • Have a can-do attitude and good work ethic
  • You are preferred to have your own license and car.
TASKS
  • Erecting access equipment as required, with appropriate training and competency.
  • Prepare painting surfaces by repairing holes, cracks and joins; removing oldpaint/wallpaper; grinding, sandpapering, smoothing, cleaning surfaces of dust and dirt,etc.
  • Prepare the surrounding area by covering with cloth or plastic to prevent messes.
  • Apply paint, varnishes and stains to surfaces using brushes, rollers and sprays as per specifications.
  • Cut and hang wallpaper, vinyl and backing paper.
  • Clean brushes, spray painting equipment and tools used in preparation and paintingand tidying up the working areas.
  • Select and use appropriate materials, tools and equipment within safety guidelines asnecessary for the completion of works.
  • Keep a record of materials purchased and used on each project.
  • Attend mandatory and other appropriate training and development courses as requested.
  • Any other task the employer might reasonably request.
