Job summary

Livestock Improvement Corporation (LIC) invites applicants for a paid summer internship at our Newstead Head Office. The project focuses on leveraging calf defect data to identify emerging genetic conditions in dairy cattle, with hands-on data workflows and phenotype refinement to support future genetic variant discovery.

You will organise calf data, analyse trends, and contribute to an improved data capture and analysis process within LIC's defect-record systems.

Qualifications

• Knowledge on either animal/human disease OR data analysis in R/python.
• Willingness to learn.
• Strong excel expertise.
• Problem solving.
• Veterinary, genetics or data science students are particularly encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

• Organise and categorise calf data to establish a structured workflow.
• Analyse data to identify emerging trends and patterns.
• Assist in uncovering potential new traits for future genetic research and discovery.
