Job summary

Jora New Zealand is seeking a permanent supervisor for our Hamurana packhouse in Bay of Plenty. You will lead a hands-on team to ensure smooth packing of eggs and operate packing machinery, with training and support from local and overseas engineers.

You will work with the leadership team to maximise product quality, adapt to daily or weekly production plans, and uphold Health and Food Safety policies. This role rewards initiative in a positive environment where decisions are encouraged and

Qualifications

• Experience leading a production team.
• Experience working in food manufacturing is preferred.
• Basic mechanical understanding of machinery and computerized controls.

Responsibilities

• Lead a hands-on team to meet daily or weekly production plans.
• Operate packhouse equipment and machinery proficiently.
• Perform minor repairs or coordinate with engineers to optimise equipment performance.
• Supervise, train, and mentor packhouse staff.
• Manage inwards goods to resource the packhouse effectively.
• Ensure Health and Food Safety policies are followed at all times.
• Support production leadership in achieving quality targets.

Job description

A permanent position at our packhouse facility in Hamurana, Bay of Plenty. You will channel hands on skills to ensure the packing of our eggs goes smoothly.

This role suits someone who is both good at leading people to achieve production tasks and also operating a packing machine. You would be trained in our machinery and have the support of both local and overseas engineers.

You would also work closely with the leadership team to maximise the quality of the product being produced by the packhouse.

Key responsibilities

• Hands on role that requires physical fitness to be able to work on your feet and lead from the front
• Operation of packhouse equipment and machinery with a high level of proficiency
• Ability to conduct minor repairs to optimise equipment performance or engage with engineers for support
• Supervise, train, and give ongoing mentoring to our packhouse team
• Manage production to meet daily or weekly production plans
• Manage supply of inwards goods to ensure the packhouse is correctly resourced
• Ensure all company policies around Health and Safety and Food Safety are always carried out

About you

• Great work ethic
• Basic mechanical understanding of machinery and computerized operating systems
• Prior experience operating a food safety risk management plan is an advantage
• Prior experience in a packhouse or food manufacturing environment highly desirable
