Placements24 is seeking a Junior Farm Hand Apprentice to join a progressive agricultural enterprise near Paarl, Western Cape. The role offers hands-on learning across crop cultivation, livestock care, equipment operation, and general farm maintenance.

Ideal candidates are physically fit, eager to learn, and able to work in varied weather conditions. The program provides mentorship, practical skills development, and potential for long-term employment in farming.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 certificate or equivalent.
• A genuine passion for agriculture and farming is preferred.
• Physical fitness and ability to perform manual labor outdoors.
• Willingness to learn various aspects of farm operations.
• Basic knowledge of farm equipment is a plus.
• Good problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
• Ability to work effectively in a team and follow instructions.
• Must be reliable, punctual, and adaptable.
• Must be legally eligible to work in South Africa.
• Must be able to commute to the farm location near Paarl, Western Cape.

Responsibilities

• Assist with planting, cultivating, and harvesting crops.
• Participate in daily livestock care, including feeding and monitoring health.
• Operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment safely.
• Perform general farm maintenance tasks, such as fencing repair and grounds upkeep.
• Learn and apply pest and disease management strategies.
• Assist with irrigation systems and water management.
• Contribute to record-keeping for yields, livestock, and operations.
• Follow all farm safety procedures and regulations.
• Learn about soil health and fertilization techniques.
• Support the team in seasonal farming activities as required.
