Aotearoa New Zealand Association of Social Workers is seeking an Overnight Supervisor for Transitional Housing. The role focuses on keeping wahine and tamariki safe, supervising residents and the building, and responding to emergencies.

Job description

Overnight Supervisor - Transitional Housing

This is a busy role that requires a high degree of energy, physical strength, enthusiasm, and a strong desire to be there for the wahine and tamariki in our care.

This is a sole role, supervising the tangata whaiora in our service and the building, responding to emergency events. Minimal advocacy work is required for this role, but you will utilise our values to ensure whaiora and their tamariki are safe and comfortable.

This role would be suitable as a starting ground into becoming a Family Harm Practitioner or Housing Navigator. We are very passionate about training and developing our team regardless of where your journey may take you. Some experience working with wahine and tamariki is preferred.

The Role

Provide support to the team, and ensure wahine and tamariki are safe. Uphold the security, Health, and Safety of our wahine and their tamariki as well as your colleagues.

Key Responsibilities

About You

• Strong work ethic, integrity, and cultural competency.
• Some experience in social services, mental health, addictions, or family violence is advantageous (peer support experience welcomed).
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• Highly organised, accountable, and adaptable.
• Computer literacy is a must and a full, clean driver’s license.
• Ability to maintain professional boundaries and work collaboratively and autonomously
• NZ residency or a valid work visa required.
