Job summary

Nelson Marlborough Health seeks an Ophthalmologist to provide comprehensive ophthalmology services at Nelson Hospital with cross-site opportunities at Wairau. You will freelance across outpatient clinics, theatre sessions, and acute care, and participate in the on-call roster.

You will contribute to teaching registrars and junior clinicians while engaging in service planning, innovation, and quality improvement activities within a supportive provincial hospital environment.

Qualifications

• Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists or equivalent.
• Eligible for Annual Practising Certificate with a vocational scope of Ophthalmology in NZ.
• Ability to work independently in a provincial district.
• Strong communication and teamwork across disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Provide full range of ophthalmology services including clinics, theatre, and acute care.
• Participate in on-call roster across Nelson and Wairau hospitals.
• Teach and supervise registrars and junior clinical staff.
• Contribute to service planning, innovation, and quality improvement.
