Job summary

NZ Ministry of Justice in Wellington Central, North Island is seeking an experienced organisational development leader to drive leadership, capability and culture in the organisation. You will connect strategic thinking with practical delivery, leading a four-person team and partnering with senior leaders to translate priorities into action.

Qualifications

• Substantial experience diagnosing organisational needs and leading the design, delivery and evaluation of organisational development strategies.
• Expertise in leadership development, coaching and development, employee experience and/or talent development.
• Ability to use research, workforce data and employee insights to identify priorities, inform interventions and assess their impact.
• Proven ability to lead and develop a specialist team, set clear priorities and deliver through others.
• Ability to build relationships with senior leaders and key stakeholders, providing constructive challenge and translating strategy into practical action.
• Demonstrated commitment to Māori Crown Relations and te Tiriti o Waitangi.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development and refresh of the Ministry's People Strategy and associated sub-strategies.
• Strengthen the Ministry's leadership system, connecting leadership expectations, development and everyday practice.
• Advance coaching and development approaches that help leaders and kaimahi learn and develop through their work.
• Continue to enhance our approach to employee experience and data, including our Working for Justice Survey, turning employee insights into meaningful action.
• Shape and progress our emerging talent work in line with the Ministry's priorities and future needs.
• Guide the team to design and deliver evidence-informed OD work with clear outcomes.
• Lead and develop a capable, high-performing team that delivers on its commitments and builds credibility through the quality and impact of its work.
• Influence senior leaders and leadership teams through coaching and strategic advice.
