Job summary

Nelson Marlborough Health in Nelson is seeking a Casual Occupational Therapist to join Nelson Hospital’s inpatient rehabilitation team. You’ll provide tailored rehab services, maximise functional independence, and contribute to high-quality care across acute and rehab wards. This role offers casual, on-site shifts with no on-call requirement, opportunities to mentor students, and collaboration within a friendly multidisciplinary team dedicated to community health in the Nelson region.

Qualifications

  • Must hold NZ OT registration and current practising certificate.
  • Previous inpatient experience essential.
  • Eligible to work in NZ or hold NZ visa at time of applying.

Responsibilities

  • Provide tailored rehabilitation services to inpatients.
  • Collaborate with Allied Health team and students.

About the Role

As a Casual Occupational Therapist, you will providetailored rehabilitation services and support patients throughout theirhealthcare journey. You will work with patients to maximise their functionalindependence while contributing to high-quality care across our inpatientservices.


This is a casual position based at Nelson Hospital, workingon an as-required basis to provide cover for leave and periods of increaseddemand. Shifts will be offered according to service requirements and youravailability. On-call work is not required.

Our team of Occupational Therapists andAllied Health Assistants provide the highest standard of care for our patients.We pride ourselves on being very friendly and supportive, and work in a busyinter-disciplinary environment focusing on promoting, encouraging and enablingthe health, well-being and independence of the people in our community.

  • Be adaptable, resourceful, and flexiblein responding to service needs;

  • Have a genuine passion for supportingpatients on their rehabilitation journey;

  • Demonstrate excellent time managementand organisational skills;

  • Work effectively both independently andas part of a multidisciplinary team;

  • Build and maintain positiveprofessional relationships;

  • Have New Zealand registration as anOccupational Therapist and a current practising certificate. Previousinpatient experience is essential.


The successful candidate must be eligible to work in NewZealand or hold a valid NZ visa at the time of applying.
