Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is seeking a Casual Occupational Therapist for Nelson Hospital. You will deliver tailored rehabilitation, help patients maximise independence, and support high-quality care across inpatient services. Shifts are on an as-required basis to cover leave and demand; on-call work is not required.

The role is based at Nelson Hospital with a friendly, multidisciplinary team and opportunities to mentor students and Allied Health staff.

Qualifications

  • Adaptable and flexible to respond to service needs.
  • Inpatient OT experience is essential.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
  • New Zealand registration as an Occupational Therapist with a current practising certificate.
  • Strong time management and organisational skills.

About the Role

As a Casual Occupational Therapist, you will providetailored rehabilitation services and support patients throughouttheirhealthcare journey. You will work with patients to maximise their functionalindependence while contributing to high-quality care across our inpatientservices.

This is a casual position based at Nelson Hospital, workingon an as-required basis to provide cover for leave and periods of increaseddemand. Shifts will be offered according to service requirements and youravailability. On-call work is not required.

About you
  • Be adaptable, resourceful, and flexible in responding to service needs
  • Have a genuine passion for supporting patients on their rehabilitation journey
  • Demonstrate excellent time management and organisational skills
  • Work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Build and maintain positive professional relationships
  • Have New Zealand registration as an Occupational Therapist and a current practising certificate.
  • Previous inpatient experience is essential.
