Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora Nelson Hospital is seeking a Physiotherapist (Rehabilitation) to join the inpatient and outpatient teams. The role supports patients to maximise independence, improve function and achieve rehabilitation goals in a varied, multidisciplinary environment.

This fixed-term parental leave cover is full-time (80 hours per fortnight) and across a mix of inpatient and outpatient settings, with opportunities for professional development and contribution to service

  • Registration with the Physiotherapy Board of New Zealand and APC current.
  • Experience in rehabilitation services.

Responsibilities

  • Assess, plan and deliver evidence-based physiotherapy interventions.
  • Provide rehabilitation services across inpatient and outpatient settings.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including Occupational Therapists, Speech Language Therapists, Social Workers, Nurses and Medical Staff.
  • Support patients and whānau throughout recovery and rehabilitation.
  • Contribute to service development and quality improvement initiatives.

Job description

Physiotherapist (Rehabilitation), Nelson Hospital, Fixedterm Full-time Working across a mix of inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation settings, you'll support patients to maximise their independence, improve function, and achieve their rehabilitation goals. This is a varied role which offers the opportunity to work with a diverse patient population, including neurological, orthopaedic, medical, and older persons' rehabilitation. You'll be part of a supportive multidisciplinary team committed to delivering high-quality, person-centred care. About the Role
  • Assess, plan and deliver evidence-based physiotherapy interventions.
  • Provide rehabilitation services across both inpatient and to a lesser extent outpatient clinic.
  • Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team including Occupational Therapists, Speech Language Therapists, Social Workers, Nurses and Medical Staff.
  • Support patients and their whānau through their recovery and rehabilitation journey.
  • Contribute to service development and continuous quality improvement initiatives.

This is a fixed term parental leave cover for up to 12months, working 80 hours per fortnight (1.0 FTE), Monday to Friday. Hours will be between 6.00AM to 8.00PM.

About you
  • Registration with the Physiotherapy Board of New Zealand and a current APC.
  • Previous physiotherapy experience, ideally within rehabilitation services.
  • Strong clinical reasoning and assessment skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A commitment to providing patient-centred care and achieving positive outcomes.
  • The ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.

The successful applicant must be eligible to work in New Zealand or hold a valid New Zealand work visa at the time of application.
