Job summary

Proactive Occupational Health is seeking a passionate Occupational Health Nurse to join our team in New Plymouth, Central Taranaki. This part-time role focuses on health assessments, ongoing medical support, and wellbeing programs for local employees.

The ideal candidate is a Registered Nurse with a current NZ practising certificate, at least 3 years in occupational health, strong communication skills, and familiarity with medical software.

Qualifications

  • Registered Nurse with a valid NZ practising certificate and right to work in NZ.
  • Minimum 3 years in occupational health, community nursing, or related field.
  • Strong clinical skills and knowledge of health and safety regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct health assessments and screenings for employees.
  • Provide ongoing medical support and return-to-work collaboration.
  • Maintain accurate medical records and documentation.
  • Educate employees on exercise, lifestyle, and nutrition.

About the role

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Occupational Health Nurse to join our team at Proactive Occupational Health. As an Occupational Health Nurse, you will play a crucial role in promoting the health, safety, and well-being of our clients' employees. This is a part-time position based in New Plymouth, Central Taranaki; working on a regular contract site this offers the opportunity to make a positive impact on the local community as well as connecting with employees and enhancing their wellbeing.

What you’ll be doing
  • Conducting comprehensive health assessments and screenings to identify and address health and safety concerns
  • Providing and ongoing medical support to employees
  • Collaborating with employers to ensure compliance with relevant health and safety regulations
  • Maintaining accurate medical records and documentation
  • Providing continuing education to employees on exercise, lifestyle and nutrition
  • Collaborating with health professionals and providing return to work support to employees
  • 2 days per week, with flexibility to provide additional cover as required
  • Travel within the Taranaki region maybe required
What we’re looking for
  • Registered Nurse with a valid practicing certificate/ability to work in NZ
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in occupational health, community nursing, or a related field
  • Strong clinical skills and knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with employees
  • Proficient in using relevant medical software and technology
  • Passion for improving the health and well-being of the local community
