Job summary

Qualifications

• Postgraduate qualification in nursing or education is highly desirable.
• Recognised nursing qualification with current or eligible registration.

• Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams and contribute to applied research.

Role Description

The full-time Nursing Lecturer role is an on-site position based in Dunedin City. The Nursing Lecturer will design, deliver, and review nursing education content, including lectures, tutorials, skills labs, and clinical teaching. Responsibilities include developing curricula aligned with current nursing and healthcare standards, assessing student learning, providing academic guidance, and supporting student success. The role involves collaborating with colleagues on course development, engaging in applied research or scholarly activity, and maintaining professional practice to ensure teaching is informed by contemporary nursing and medical knowledge. The Nursing Lecturer will also contribute to school committees, quality assurance processes, and community or industry partnerships relevant to nursing education.

Qualifications

• Strong professional expertise in Nursing and Nursing Education, with the ability to integrate theory and clinical practice.
• Demonstrated capability in Curriculum Development for tertiary-level nursing programmes.
• Knowledge of Medicine and Critical Care Medicine sufficient to support safe, evidence-based teaching and learning.
• Recognised nursing qualification and current or eligible professional registration with the relevant nursing council.
• Experience in tertiary teaching or clinical education, including student supervision and assessment.
• Ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams and contribute to applied research or scholarly activity.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and cultural competence skills, with a commitment to inclusive and equitable education.
• Postgraduate qualification (or progress toward one) in nursing, education, or a related field is highly desirable.
