Job summary

Manukau Institute of Technology and Unitec seek a Registered Nurse educator to deliver the Bachelor of Nursing program at the Waitakere campus in Henderson. You will teach across classrooms, simulation labs and clinical placements, using contemporary, evidence-informed teaching methods to support student success.

You will bring a minimum of three years post-registration nursing practice, current NZRN registration, and a commitment to te reo Māori and kaupapa Māori values.

Te āheinga: The opportunity

As a Registered Nurse, you will bring your clinical expertise to the delivery of the Bachelor of Nursing programme, using contemporary, evidence-informed teaching approaches that prepare learners for professional practice.

This is an opportunity to make an impact on the next generation of nurses. You will teach across a variety of learning environments, including classrooms, simulation laboratories, and clinical placements, while contributing to an inclusive, collaborative, and student-centred learning experience. We welcome applicants with experience in acute medical-surgical nursing, older persons health, primary health care, human bioscience, or related fields.

In this role, you will:

  • Deliver engaging and evidence-based teaching across a range of nursing practice areas.
  • Facilitate learning in classrooms, simulation settings, and clinical placement environments.
  • Support student achievement and readiness for practice through innovative and research-informed teaching methods.

To be successful in this role, you will be a registered nursing professional with a commitment to supporting learner success and developing the future nursing workforce. You will bring recent clinical practice experience, a collaborative approach, and a genuine interest in teaching and facilitating learning across a range of educational settings.

Key requirements include:

  • Registration as a New Zealand Registered Nurse with a current Annual Practising Certificate issued by the Nursing Council of New Zealand.
  • A minimum of three years' post-registration nursing practice experience.
  • An interest in education and a willingness to develop skills in facilitating learning within classroom, clinical, and simulation-based environments.
  • A master's degree or a clear commitment to working towards a qualification at master's level.
  • An understanding or desire to learn te reo Māori, tikanga Māori, and the values and practices of kaupapa Māori
  • Evidence of active engagement in building diverse, inclusive, and equitable workplaces/environments
