This NGO delivers accessible, whānau-centred healthcare to the community. Based in central Northland, this role combines clinic-based nursing with health promotion, education and outreach. With no GP routinely onsite, the position suits confident nurses who can work autonomously, make sound clinical decisions and collaborate effectively with Enrolled Nurses and community health colleagues. You will provide practical, culturally responsive nursing care to individuals and whānau, helping reduce barriers to healthcare across the local community.
Role Details
- Full-time position working 40 hours per week
- Monday to Friday from 8.30am to 5.00pm.
- Some occasional weekend outreach may be required.
- Pool car provided to work across the community
- Salary based on the Primary Health Care MECA and relevant experience.
- Travel assistance top up is open for discussion.
Key Responsibilities
- Complete nursing assessments and deliver appropriate follow-up care
- Provide immunisations across the lifespan
- Undertake pregnancy testing, swabbing and other primary care procedures
- Support cervical screening where qualified
- Assess and support clients experiencing head lice
- Deliver smoking cessation advice and wider health education
- Participate in community health promotion and outreach activities
- Maintain accurate clinical records and contribute to safe clinical practice
- Work collaboratively with Enrolled Nurses, kaiāwhina and external health providers
About You
- Registered with the Nursing Council of New Zealand and holding a current Annual Practising Certificate
- Comfortable working independently in a nurse-led clinical environment
- An authorised vaccinator, or willing and eligible to complete vaccinator training
- Cervical screening experience or certification would be valued but is not essential
- Holds a full, clean and current New Zealand driver licence
- Holds a current Level 4 First Aid certificate
- Confident using electronic patient management systems; Medtech or Indici experience is advantageous
- Able to build respectful relationships with whānau and deliver culturally responsive care
- Holds current New Zealand work rights, as employer-supported visa sponsorship is not available
