Job summary

Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora Taranaki is seeking a Nurse Coordinator Safe Staffing to lead and deliver safe staffing initiatives for Te Whatu Ora Taranaki, including CCDM, TrendCare, and data-driven workforce planning. Qualifications

• NZ Registered Nurse with a current APC.
• Expert or Senior Nurse level PDRP (or working towards).
• Strong knowledge of CCDM, TrendCare, and safe staffing methodologies.
• Proven experience in data analysis, rostering, workforce or service improvement.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, including partnership with unions.
• Ability to lead change, influence practice, and support capability-building across teams.
• Commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi, equity, and culturally safe practice.
• Strong organisational, problem-solving, and facilitation capability.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate safe staffing programme activities across designated hospital services.
• Strengthen staff capability in CCDM, patient acuity systems, and data-driven workforce planning.
• Provide expert advice, analysis, and reporting to support CCDM Governance and organisational decision making.
• Work in partnership with unions, the SSHW Unit, Nurse Managers, Midwife Managers and wider operational teams.
• Champion the visibility, transparency, and cultural safety of safe staffing practices across the organisation.

About the Role

As Nurse Coordinator Safe Staffing, you will provide clinical, operational, and professional leadership to ensure the effective implementation and ongoing delivery of safe staffing initiatives across Te Whatu Ora Taranaki. This includes leadership of Care Capacity Demand Management (CCDM), TrendCare, variance response processes, and other tools that enable safe, sustainable nursing services.

In this role you will:

• Lead and coordinate safe staffing programme activities across designated hospital services.

You will join a progressive nursing leadership directorate committed to Te Tiriti, equity, partnership, and improving outcomes for the people of Taranaki.
