Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is seeking an experienced senior Emergency Department nurse to join as Nurse Coordinator, Quality and Patient Safety at Palmerston North Hospital. Working in partnership with the Emergency Department senior team, you will coordinate responses to serious and adverse incidents, promote organisational learning and support the delivery of safe, effective and person-centred care.You will lead and support patient safety and quality improvement activities, including clinical audits, education, policy and pathway development, incident review and the monitoring of standards of care. You will work collaboratively with nursing, medical and multidisciplinary teams to embed systems thinking, human factors principles and a whole-person safety culture throughout the Emergency Department.This is an excellent opportunity for a senior nurse who is passionate about emergency nursing, clinical excellence and continuous improvement to make a positive difference for patients, whānau and staff.**About you**To succeed in this role, you will have:* New Zealand Registered Nurse registration and a current Annual Practising Certificate* Current or recent experience as an Emergency Department Registered Nurse, with extensive emergency nursing experience* A relevant graduate and postgraduate qualification, or be working towards completion of a relevant postgraduate qualification* Demonstrated senior Registered Nurse competencies and strong clinical leadership capability* Experience implementing Te Tiriti o Waitangi in action* Experience in clinical audit, evaluation and continuous quality improvement* The ability to analyse and use data to support decision-making and service improvement* Strong written and verbal communication, relationship management, facilitation and problem-solving skills* The ability to work collaboratively across professional and organisational boundaries* A resilient, adaptable and innovative approach, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and changing environmentExperience in policy or guideline development, change management, quality improvement initiatives and the design and delivery of outcome measures would be advantageous.**About the Team/Service**The Emergency Department provides urgent and emergency care to the MidCentral community. You will work closely with the Charge Nurse, Emergency Department senior team, nursing and medical staff, operational leaders and other health professionals to strengthen clinical governance, improve standards of care and promote positive outcomes and experiences for patients and whānau.Te Pae Hauora o Ruahine o Tararua - MidCentral is a 350-bed hospital in the city of Palmerston North, Manawatū, a city in the Lower North Island of New Zealand. Palmerston North Hospital is a secondary hospital and offers most medical and surgical specialties with the exception of Cardiothoracic, Plastic and Neurosurgery.
