Job summary

Hall's Christchurch depot is seeking an experienced Night Yard Operator to manage yard operations overnight. You will manoeuvre B-Train, Quad, Truck and Trailer units, reverse onto docks, and ensure timely freight movements with dispatch and warehouse teams.

Your role requires a Full Class 5 license, strong communication, and the ability to work independently under pressure while maintaining safety standards and a clean yard environment.

Qualifications

• Experience operating and reversing B-Train, Quad trailer, Truck and Trailer units, and rigid vehicles.
• Full Class 5 license is required.
• F endorsement – preferred but not essential.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Safely operating and manoeuvring a variety of vehicle combinations within the yard.
• Reversing units onto loading docks for loading and unloading.
• Coupling and uncoupling trailers as required.
• Working with dispatch, warehouse and loading teams to ensure freight movements occur on time.
• Completing daily vehicle safety checks and reporting defects.
• Maintaining a tidy, organised and safe working environment.

Job Description

Our Christchurch depot is looking for an experienced NightYard Operator to join the team. Working Monday to Friday, you will play acritical role in ensuring our operation runs smoothly throughout the night.

This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and has exceptional vehicle handling skills. You'll be responsible for moving and positioning a variety of vehicle combinations, ensuring trailers and units are correctly placed on dock for loading and unloading while maintaining to strict operational deadlines.

Success in this role depends on your ability to confidently manoeuvre and reverse multiple vehicle combinations, including B-Trains, Quads, Truck and Trailer units, and rigid vehicles.

We're looking for someone who can:

• Safely operating and manoeuvring a variety of vehicle combinations within the yard
• Reversing units onto loading docks for loading and unloading
• Coupling and uncoupling trailers as required
• Working closely with dispatch, warehouse and loading teams to ensure freight movements occur on time
• Completing daily vehicle safety checks and reporting defects
• Ensuring all yard activities are carried out safely and efficiently
• Maintaining a tidy, organised and safe working environment
• Supporting operational requirements to ensure customer expectations are met
• Full Class 5 license
• Experience operating and reversing:

• Ability to work independently and under pressure
