Job summary

Bidfood New Zealand is recruiting for experienced storepersons to join our pick/pack team in Mangere. Night shift runs 6pm–3am, five 9-hour shifts Sunday to Friday with flexibility for additional hours as needed.

Applicants should be reliable, physically fit for heavy lifting up to 25kg, and able to work in cold environments occasionally. Forklift experience is a plus. NZ residency or citizenship required.

Qualifications

• Excellent written and spoken English.
• Ability to work unsupervised.
• Accurate and fast picking and packing of orders.
• Experience in a food distribution or similar warehouse environment preferred.
• NZ permanent residency or citizenship required.

Responsibilities

• Pick and pack orders accurately and efficiently.
• Assist with loading trucks and basic warehouse duties.
• Work in ambient, chiller, and freezer environments as required.
• Attend pre-employment checks and provide references when asked.

Job description

We are looking for experienced storepersons to join our hard-working pick/pack team . Based in Mangere, night shift hours are 6pm to 3am, 5 x 9 hours shifts across our working week (Sunday to Friday. Actual shift days will be discussed at interview). Flexibility around working hours is required as we respond to changing business needs, ie: additional hours as required.

Previous experience in a warehouse environment is desirable (but not essential). We have three departments - Drystore (ambient temperature), Chiller and Freezer. You must be willing to work in a cold environment from time to time (but not necessarily the freezer) as pack down and truck loading requires a chilled environment.

Applicants must be able to demonstrate a history of reliability as this is key to the success of our business.

This position requires individuals to be physically fit as there is frequent heavy lifting of up to 25kg. Preference will be given to applicants who have a desire to learn to operate and forklift and/or reach truck, but this is not essential.

The right candidate will be able to demonstrate the following:

• Excellent written and spoken English and numerical skills
• The ability to work unsupervised
• Accuracy and speed with picking and packing orders
• Experience working a food distribution or similar warehouse environment
• NO Criminal convictions
• MUST provide 2 contactable work referees
• NZ permanent residency or citizenship required
