Job summary

EVT is seeking a Night Manager for Sherwood Queenstown, a sustainability-led boutique hotel overlooking Lake Wakatipu. You will lead the Night Team, oversee the night audit, and protect the guest experience through the night shift.

You will report to Front Office leadership and ensure seamless operations, guest care, and security during overnight hours at this Michelin-starred property.

Qualifications

• NZQF Diploma or 3+ years' Front Office/night audit experience
• Strong knowledge of hotel systems, night audit processes and cashiering procedures
• Excellent guest service with tact and care
• Ability to manage hotel independently overnight
• Attention to detail and accuracy
• Availability to work night shifts, weekends and public holidays

Responsibilities

Role Overview

Sherwood Queenstown is a sustainability-led, boutique hotel set on the hillside overlooking Lake Wakatipu and the Remarkables, awarded a Michelin Star in the inaugural MICHELIN Guide New Zealand. Blending rustic charm with modern comfort, Sherwood offers a unique retreat focused on wellness, creativity, and community.

Reporting to the Front Office Manager, the Night Manager acts as the manager of the hotel overnight in the absence of the General Manager, Front Office Manager and Hotel Manager, anticipating and meeting guest needs, overseeing the night audit process, and maintaining hotel security and established service standards through the night shift. You'll supervise the Night Team, resolve guest requests with warmth and urgency, and help protect the seamless experience Sherwood is known for around the clock. This is a rare opportunity to be part of something special, taking genuine ownership of the hotel during the night shift.

This is a full-time, permanent role with a minimum guaranteed hours of 40 per week.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as manager of the hotel overnight, anticipating and attending to guest needs and desires as they occur
• Check guests in and out efficiently, and process daily guest transactions and accounts accurately
• Complete the night audit process thoroughly, ensuring accommodation, food, beverage and miscellaneous revenue is properly posted and any discrepancies are identified
• Ensure the hotel is secured overnight in line with established procedures
• Supervise the Night Auditor, Night Porters and other non-managerial staff on shift
• Liaise with Housekeeping, Reservations and Maintenance to ensure rooms are properly prepared for arriving guests, and communicate guest requests through to resolution

What You'll Bring

• An NZQF Diploma, or a minimum of 3 years' relevant experience in a hotel Front Office or night audit role (ANZSCO Skill Level 2)
• Strong working knowledge of hotel systems, night audit processes and cashiering procedures
• Excellent guest service skills, with the ability to respond to comments and complaints with tact and care
• Sound judgement and the confidence to manage the hotel independently overnight
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy
• Availability to work night shifts, including weekends and public holidays
