Job summary

NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi is seeking a Contract Manager – Professional Services for a six-month parental leave cover. You will own a varied portfolio of professional services contracts, including MSQA and environmental services, across the motu, coordinating with regional teams and suppliers to ensure timely delivery.

You will act as Principal’s Representative under Consultancy Contract Conditions, with autonomy and support from experienced colleagues to make day-to-day decisions.

Qualifications

• Experience administering professional services, consultancy, infrastructure or similar contracts.
• Ability to read, understand and apply contract documents and follow defined processes.
• Experience preparing contract notices, service orders, variations or similar documentation.

Responsibilities

• Administer professional services contracts in accordance with contract conditions and NZTA requirements.
• Prepare contractual correspondence including notices to consultants, service orders and variations.
• Assess payment information and maintain accurate records of approvals, expenditure and changes.
• Coordinate with local NZTA teams to understand programmes, priorities and resource needs.
• Coordinate supplier availability and onboarding of qualified resources.
• Monitor contract expenditure and support value-for-money decisions.
• Maintain communication with suppliers and internal stakeholders; escalate as needed.
• Identify risks and assist with early mitigation.
• Monitor supplier performance and coordinate improvement actions.
• Maintain audit-ready contract records.
• Coordinate monthly cost, progress, risks, resourcing and performance reporting.
• Identify and implement improvements to strengthen contract performance and efficiency.
