Job description

Motel Assistant Manager/Receptionist/Housekeeper
  • Greet guests warmly and assist with check-in and check-out procedures.
  • Handle guest inquiries, requests, and concerns promptly and professionally.
  • Provide information about local attractions, dining options, and activities.
2. Administrative Support
  • Manage reservations, including bookings, modifications, and cancellations.
  • Maintain accurate records of guest information, payments, and room assignments.
  • Handle cash transactions and maintain a balanced cash drawer.
  • Assist with inventory management and ordering of supplies as needed.
3. Housekeeping and Laundry Duties
  • Remove used linens, towels, and rubbish from guest rooms and common areas.
  • Perform thorough cleaning tasks such as vacuuming, dusting, and sanitizing surfaces.
  • Efficiently handle laundry duties, including washing, drying, folding, and ironing linens and garments.
  • Ensure all rooms and public areas are kept tidy and presentable.
  • Adhere to health and safety standards at all times.
4. Operations Support
  • Collaborate with housekeeping staff to ensure rooms are cleaned and prepared for guests.
  • Assist with maintenance issues and coordinate repairs as necessary.
  • Monitor and respond to online reviews and feedback to maintain high guest satisfaction levels.
5. Grounds & Maintenance
  • Regular mowing of lawns and edges, when required.
  • Regular spraying of weeds as required.
  • Regular weeding, pruning, and maintenance of gardens.
  • Regular watering of gardens, shrubs, etc.
  • Other ground work as required.
  • Maintain chattels in good working order.
  • Make minor repairs, maintenance, and touch-up painting as required.
  • Consult with owners regarding the employment of approved tradespeople for electrical, plumbing, and other repairs as required.
  • Monitor diesel tank levels to ensure an adequate supply is maintained.
6. Skills and Experience
  • Leadership and communication skills.
  • Reliable, punctual, and trustworthy.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards.
  • Previous experience in a housekeeping supervisory or head housekeeper role.
  • Experience in a motel, hotel, or similar accommodation setting.
  • Knowledge of cleaning procedures, equipment, and chemical use.
  • Understanding of workplace health and safety practices.
7. Qualifications
  • Minimum 6 months experience in hospitality, customer service, or a related field.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational abilities and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in computer systems, including MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and the Seekom booking reservation system.
  • Experience in providing staff training.
  • Ability to multitask and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Flexibility to work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays.
