Job summary

Bunny Burrows Montessori in Otago is seeking a passionate teacher to join our preschool team from early 2027. We blend Montessori philosophy with Te Whāriki to support confident, independent learners through hands‑on learning.

We value sustainability, community connection and care for our environment, and seek someone who shares our approach and is eager to learn. Montessori experience is preferred; ECE qualification is not essential.

Qualifications

• Understanding of the prepared environment and independence in learning.

Responsibilities

• Create a warm, stimulating Montessori‑based classroom environment.
• Support children’s independence and self-directed learning.
• Observe, assess and document child progress with whānau input.
• Collaborate with colleagues to plan activities aligned with Te Whāriki.
• Foster sustainable practices and community connections.

Bunny Burrows Montessori | Permanent | 30 - 40 hours per week | Starting early 2027

Bunny Burrows Montessori is looking for a passionate and dedicated teacher to join our preschool team from early 2027.

Our environment is welcoming, nurturing and child‑lead. We blend the Montessori philosophy with Te Whāriki, supporting children to become confident, capable and independent learners through hands‑on, self‑directed learning.

We value sustainability, connection to our community, and caring for our environment, and encourage children to develop an understanding of their role within the wider world.

We are looking for someone who:

• Has Montessori training or experience, or a genuine interest in Montessori education.
• Understands the importance of the prepared environment and the role it plays in supporting children's independence, concentration and learning.
• Enjoys encouraging children's curiosity, independence and confidence.
• Builds positive and respectful relationships with children, whānau and colleagues.
• Values sustainability and contributing positively to our community.

Montessori experience is preferred, but we are open to meeting the right person for our team. Most importantly, we are looking for someone who is passionate about working with children, has a willingness to learn, and shares our values and approach.

An ECE teaching qualification is not essential.
