Job summary

Horsham Downs School in Auckland is seeking a dedicated Montessori ECE Assistant to join our early childhood education team. This supportive role works with the teaching staff to provide a safe, nurturing environment for children aged 0–6.

New Zealand teacher registration is not required. Starting pay offered from $26 to $30 hourly, fixed by experience for at least 30 hours a week; overtime paid at the same rate.

Qualifications

• Two years of Montessori education experience or equivalent.
• AMI/AMS Montessori qualification or equivalent.
• Willingness to pass police vetting and pre-employment checks.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and care for children aged 0–6 in a Montessori classroom.
• Assist with Montessori-based learning activities and routines.
• Support children’s social, emotional and physical development.
• Prepare learning materials and maintain a clean, safe environment.
• Assist children with meals, hygiene and daily routines.
• Observe children, document relevant information, and communicate observations to staff.
• Foster positive relationships with children, parents and colleagues.
• Uphold the centre’s health, safety and child protection policies.
