Job summary

You will be part of a collaborative pathology team delivering timely, accurate results and handling specimens from collection through reporting.

The role emphasises leadership, student supervision, and continuous workflow improvement within a modern, purpose-built laboratory environment in Northland.

Qualifications

• NZ Registered Medical Laboratory Scientist with MSC or equivalent.
• Computer literacy: Word, Outlook, and clinical software.
• Extensive microbiology experience.
• Experience in specimen handling and reporting.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership within Microbiology and contribute to quality and safety.
• Oversee specimen handling from collection to reporting and manage referrals to external labs.
• Support Head of Department with operational and quality management.
• Drive continuous improvement in workflows for faster, more accurate diagnostics.
