Job summary

Petstock NZ is seeking an experienced Merchandise Planner to join the New Zealand Merchandise team. You will forecast, manage inventory and financial planning, delivering data-driven insights to support business growth.

Reporting to the Merchandise Planning Manager NZ, you will collaborate across departments, develop budgets and inventories, and drive GMROI and stock-turn improvements with a proactive, detail-oriented approach.

Qualifications

  • Strong forecasting and inventory planning experience in retail.
  • Ability to analyse sales, inventory and category performance.
  • Proven track record in budgeting, replenishment and OTB processes.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage category budgets, forecasts and inventory plans.
  • Drive stockturn, GMROI and inventory productivity outcomes.
  • Analyse sales and inventory to identify opportunities and risks.
  • Manage seasonal buy plans, forecasting and OTB processes.
  • Partner with Merchandise, Supply Chain and Operations to hit commercial targets.
  • Provide reporting, insights and recommendations for strategic decisions.
  • Build strong, cross-functional relationships across the business.

Job description

Join Petstock NZ and help drive inventory performance, commercial outcomes, and category success. We are looking for an experienced Merchandise Planner to join our New Zealand Merchandise team. Reporting to the Merchandise Planning Manager NZ, you will play a key role in forecasting, inventory management, financial planning, and delivering data driven insights that support business growth.

Where you will add value
  • Developing and managing category budgets, forecasts, and inventory plans.
  • Driving stockturn, GMROI, and inventory productivity outcomes.
  • Analysing sales, inventory, and category performance to identify opportunities and risks.
  • Managing seasonal buy plans, forecasting, and Open To Buy (OTB) processes.
  • Partnering with Merchandise, Supply Chain, and Operations teams to achieve commercial objectives.
  • Providing reporting, insights, and recommendations to support strategic decision-making.
  • Building strong relationships with key stakeholders across the business.
What sets you apart
  • Previous experience in Merchandise Planning, Inventory Planning, or a similar retail planning role.
  • Strong forecasting, analytical, and commercial acumen.
  • Experience with inventory management, replenishment, allocation, and budgeting processes.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • A positive, proactive approach and passion for delivering results.
