Job summary

Local Doctors Ōtara, part of the Tāmaki Health network, is seeking a friendly Medical Receptionist to join our General Practice in Auckland. You’ll be the first point of contact, creating a welcoming experience and supporting the clinical team each day.

Responsibilities include appointment management, patient enquiries, payments, and administrative tasks. A calm, organised, and customer-focused approach is essential in a busy clinic.

Qualifications

• Previous reception or administration experience
• Healthcare or medical practice experience preferred but not essential
• Strong communication and customer service skills

Responsibilities

• Welcome patients and visitors, help them feel comfortable and supported
• Manage appointments, bookings, cancellations, and patient enquiries
• Answer incoming calls and assist patients with queries
• Register new patients and keep information accurate
• Process payments and front desk tasks
• Support GPs, nurses and the wider practice team with admin tasks
• Help coordinate smooth flow of patients throughout the clinic
• Use practice systems to support day-to-day operations

Full Time | 1.0 FTE

Are you someone who enjoys connecting with people, keeping things organised and making a positive difference to someone's day?

Local Doctors Ōtara is looking for a friendly, capable and people-focused Medical Receptionist to join our busy General Practice team.

As the first point of contact for many of our patients, you'll help create a welcoming and positive experience from the moment they walk through the door. You'll also play an important role behind the scenes, helping our clinical team and practice run smoothly each day.

About the Role

No two days in this role are quite the same. You'll be at the heart of the practice, supporting patients, coordinating appointments and working closely with our GPs, nurses and wider team.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys a dynamic environment, is confident juggling different priorities and takes pride in providing great service to their community.

What You'll Be Doing

• Welcoming patients and visitors and helping them feel comfortable and supported
• Managing appointments, bookings, cancellations and patient enquiries
• Answering incoming calls and assisting patients with their queries
• Registering new patients and ensuring patient information is accurate and up to date
• Processing payments and managing day-to-day front desk responsibilities
• Supporting GPs, nurses and the wider practice team with administrative tasks
• Helping coordinate the smooth flow of patients throughout the clinic
• Using practice systems and technology to support efficient day-to-day operations
• Contributing to a professional, positive and patient-centred environment

About You

You’ll enjoy working with people and understand how much a friendly, helpful interaction can mean to someone visiting a healthcare practice.
