Job summary

Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora, New Plymouth, on the North Island, invites applications for a Medical Laboratory Technician to join the Laboratory team delivering diagnostic testing across biochemistry, blood bank, haematology and microbiology.

The role supports 8:00am–5:00pm weekdays with weekend and out-of-hours shifts to ensure 24/7 service delivery, based at Taranaki Base Hospital. A MSCNZ-eligible registration is required, with a collaborative, patient-centred approach.

Qualifications

• Eligible for MSCNZ registration as Medical Laboratory Technician.
• Experience with phlebotomy preferred but not essential.
• Ability to work in a team.
• High level of attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic testing across biochemistry, blood bank, haematology and microbiology.
• Contribute to Point of Care Testing, Molecular Biology, and Specimen Services.
• Work shifts including weekdays, weekends, and 24/7 service delivery.
• Collaborate with a skilled, multidisciplinary team to support patient care.
