Job summary

Punchbowl Automation in Rural Patumahoe, South Auckland, is seeking an experienced Mechatronics Engineer to design and deliver smart automation systems, taking customer requirements from concept through to commissioning.

You will collaborate with mechanical, electrical, automation, and software engineers to create reliable, efficient machines that move, handle, and process product, with a strong emphasis on end‑to‑end performance.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics.
• 7+ years designing industrial machinery or automation systems.
• Experience with automated machinery, material handling, or conveying systems.
• Strong CAD skills from concept to commissioning.
• Systems thinking with end-to-end product flow.

Responsibilities

• Translate customer requirements into machine concepts, layouts, and system designs.
• Analyze product flow, throughput, and system performance to develop efficient solutions.
• Develop machine architecture and engineering recommendations.
• Collaborate with engineers across mechanical, electrical, automation, and software disciplines.
• Support projects from concept and design through to build, testing, and commissioning.
• Identify risks and troubleshoot system performance issues.
• Participate in FAT, commissioning, and system optimisation activities.
• Contribute to continuous improvement, product development, and innovation initiatives.
