Job summary

Digiscale seeks a Mechanical Design Engineer in Hawke's Bay to design and develop mechanical components for our products. The role involves feasibility studies, prototyping, and close collaboration with electronics and software teams to ensure seamless integration.

You will conduct tests and simulations, create manufacturing drawings, and drive cost-saving improvements while upholding quality and safety standards. A strong engineering background and hands-on problem-solving are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 3+ years of experience in mechanical design.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD software (SOLIDWORKS / AutoCAD).
• Experience with FEA and simulation tools.
• Strong understanding of mechanical principles and materials.
• Excellent problem-solving and teamwork skills.

Key Responsibilities:

• Designing and developing mechanical components and systems for our products
• Conducting feasibility studies and creating prototypes to test designs
• Collaborating with other engineers and designers to ensure seamless integration of mechanical components with electronic and software systems
• Conducting tests and simulations to validate design concepts and ensure product performance and reliability
• Creating detailed technical drawings and specifications for manufacturing

• Staying up-to-date with industry trends and advancements in mechanical engineering
• Providing technical support to other teams, including production and quality assurance, to ensure smooth product development and manufacturing processes

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in mechanical design, preferably in the manufacturing or industrial sector
• Proficiency in 3D CAD software, such as SolidWorks or AutoCAD
• Experience with FEA and other simulation tools
• Strong understanding of mechanical principles and materials
• Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment
