Job summary

Westport Deep Sea Fishing School seeks a motivated Chef to join our team in Rotorua, Bay of Plenty. This role guarantees a minimum of 30 hours per week, with an hourly rate between $30.00 and $35.00, depending on experience.

You will ensure smooth daily restaurant operation, lead by example, and deliver outstanding customer service to create a positive work environment. The successful candidate will plan menus, prepare breakfast and cafe items, manage cabinet foods, and supervise kitchen staff,

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience in similar field or higher culinary qualification.
• Reliable and punctual.
• Clear and confident communicator.
• Calm and efficient under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Assist with menu planning and determine food quantities and costs.
• Prepare and cook breakfast and café items to required standards.
• Maintain a quality range of cabinet food and ensure freshness of ingredients.
• Order food and kitchen supplies and maintain stock levels.
• Maintain a clean, organised, and hygienic kitchen at all times.
• Train junior kitchen staff in food preparation and safety.
• Develop and introduce new dishes and menu items as required.
• Coordinate with front-of-house staff to ensure smooth service.
