Are you aged between 16-24 recently un-employed, mid to long-term unemployed orjust looking to change careers? The Westport Deepsea Fishing School could have anopportunity for you.

The Westport Deepsea Fishing School has a wide range of courses tailored to theMaritime Industry.

We are now seeking expressions of interest for our 2026 courses; The next availableintakes will be September 21st October 26th 2026. These courses are subject to age andNCEA qualification criteria.

Or are you currently in the industry and wanting to gain qualifications, check out our for a range of maritime training programs that can lead todeckhands, skippers and engineering licenses,

• Advanced Deckhand Fishing
• MEC5 and 6 Engineering licenses
• STCW Basic training programs

We can offer some of these training programs on a regular and ongoing basis throughout
the year.

Westport Deep Sea Fishing School is seeking applications for our pre-employment programs.

Re-train with industry created programs that will kick start your career in sea goingpositions on NZ owned deep sea factory ships.

Successful students are facilitated into paid employment in the seafood industry; thishowever is dependent on usual employment practices, Company and vesselavailability.

Starting wages ranging from 60 – 70k per year depending on trip lengths.

The Westport Deep Sea Fishing School is New Zealand's leading provider of pre-employment training for the maritime industry.
