Job description

Babcock is looking for an Marine Electrician to join the Electrical team based in Devonport, Auckland.

About The Role

Join a highly skilled electrical team supporting critical marine and defence operations. This role offers hands‑on work across installation, maintenance, and fault‑finding on complex electrical systems, from power distribution to propulsion and communication equipment. You will work in a dynamic environment where no two days are the same, contributing to essential operational readiness.

You will be part of a collaborative, safety‑first culture that values continuous improvement and technical excellence. With opportunities to develop new skills, including fibre optics, and exposure to advanced systems, this is an excellent role for an electrician wanting to expand into marine and defence sectors while building long-term career capability.

  • $48.50 per hour (trade certificate and EWRB registration essential)
  • $51 per hour upon successful completion of a 90-day Senior Trades Assessment
  • OT rates paid at 1.5x for first 3 hours and 2x for anything beyond that

About You

You are a trade-qualified Marine Electrician with full registration, confident working across marine, industrial, and defence environments. You thrive on varied installation, maintenance, and fault‑finding work, delivering safely to tight deadlines. You read drawings, use test equipment expertly, and communicate clearly with stakeholders. You collaborate, mentor others, and show initiative improving systems and processes. Adaptable and solutions‑focused, you take ownership, uphold quality standards, and prioritise health and safety in everything you do. Maintain accurate records and deliver clear technical reports.
