Job summary

Intertek Testing Services (NZ) Ltd. is seeking an experienced Marine Cargo Surveyor based in Napier with long seaworthy experience to support surveys on bulk carriers and tankers. The role involves vessel condition surveys, sampling of hydrocarbon products, and supervision of timber cargo operations.

You will travel to other NZ ports as needed. NZ residents or valid work visas are required. Attractive salary and a company car are included in the package.

Qualifications

• 10 years sailing as a Deck Officer on Geared Bulk Carriers and Oil/Chemical Tankers.
• Experience surveying Dry & Wet commodities, especially Animal Fats.

Responsibilities

• Vessel condition surveys (on and off hire).
• Marine surveying including loading planning and supervision of timber cargo on bulk carriers.
• Sampling & Gauging of Petroleum, Petrochemical, Crude Oil, Tallow and other commodities.
• Contract work for Terminals, including Wharf Labour services.
• Inspection of container loadings.
• Collecting and disposing of Hydrocarbon samples from customer sites.
• Sample labelling, registering and storage requirements.
• General office and equipment maintenance.
• Travelling to other ports for inspection related work.

FULL TIME ROLE WITH INTERTEK TESTING SERVICES (NZ) LIMITED

Intertek Testing Services (NZ) Ltd. is part of a World Leading organization in Assurance, Testing, Inspection and Certification.

We are looking to employ personnel with Marine background (Deck Officer with experience on Dry Cargo ships as well as Oil/Chemical Tankers) to pursue a long-term career with Intertek in a role as a "Marine Cargo Surveyor"

We have an opportunity in Napier. The employee will also be required to work at other Ports in New Zealand on a travel basis from the primary location of Napier. This is a full-time employment role with a minimum of 7.5hrs per day /162.5hrs monthly.

A competitive remuneration package of between $75,000 and $85,000 will be offered, along with a fully maintained Company car depending on qualifications, experience and the package chosen. Other reimbursable allowances may also apply and will be detailed in the IEA.

The role will include below but not limited to the following:

• Vessel condition, On and Off Hire Surveys
• Marine Surveying that includes loading planning and superintendence of Timber cargo on Bulk Carriers.
• Sampling & Gauging of Petroleum, Petrochemical, Crude Oil, Tallow and any other commodities
• Contract work for Terminals, including Wharf Labour services - Not related to vessel operations where Intertek is involved as the "Independent Surveyors".
• Inspection of container loadings
• Collecting and disposing of Hydrocarbon samples from customer sites
• Sample labelling, registering and storage requirements
• General office and equipment maintenance
• Travelling to other ports for Inspection related work

We are looking for an experienced Mariner with at least 10 years' sailing experience as an Officer in the Deck department on Geared Bulk Carriers and Oil/Chemical Tankers.

Previous Experience in Surveying Dry & Wet commodities, especially Animal Fats will be an added advantage

This will be a hands-on role that involves extensive work in the Marine, Dry Cargo & Petroleum areas, for which training will be provided.
