Job summary

Kāpiti Coast District Council is seeking an experienced Manager Information, Data & AI to lead governance, analytics platforms and an AI framework across the organisation. This role shapes how data and AI are governed, enabling trusted insights for decision-making at the Council and community level.

The successful candidate will bring strategic leadership and practical delivery experience, partnering across departments to drive responsible AI adoption and enhanced information management.

Qualifications

• Significant leadership experience in data, analytics, information management, AI governance or related fields.
• Experience developing enterprise governance frameworks and operating models.
• Strong knowledge of data governance, information management, privacy and compliance.

We are seeking an experienced Manager Information, Data & AI to lead a specialist team responsible for Council's information management, data governance, analytics platforms and artificial intelligence framework. This is a unique opportunity to shape how data and AI are governed and utilised across the organisation, enabling better decisions, improved services and trusted outcomes for our community.

About the role

Your key responsibilities include:

• Leading enterprise data and information governance frameworks.
• Overseeing information lifecycle management, records management and compliance obligations.
• Managing Council's data warehouse and data lake environments.
• Driving data quality, reporting standards and business intelligence capability.
• Leading the development and implementation of Council's responsible AI governance framework.
• Providing expert advice on information management, data governance, privacy and AI adoption.
• Partnering across the organisation to identify opportunities for innovation, efficiency and improved decision-making.
• Building capability through guidance, training and support.

We're looking for a collaborative and future-focused leader who can combine strategic thinking with practical delivery. You will have:

• Significant leadership experience in data, analytics, information management, AI governance, digital transformation or a related field.
• Experience developing and implementing enterprise governance frameworks and operating models.
• Strong knowledge of data governance, information management, privacy and compliance requirements.
• Understanding of business intelligence, reporting, data visualisation and self-service analytics practices.
• Experience working with Microsoft technologies including Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Power BI, Power Platform, Microsoft Fabric, Purview and/or Copilot.
• Knowledge of responsible AI principles, governance and organisational adoption.
• Outstanding stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
• The ability to influence, coach and lead teams through change and innovation.
