Job summary

ibis Budget Auckland Central is seeking a Maintenance Technician to support day-to-day maintenance across the hotel, covering painting, building upkeep, and general handyman duties. You will work under the Hotel Manager to maintain safe, functional spaces for guests, contractors and staff, ensuring assets stay in good condition.

• At least 1 year of maintenance experience or similar industry.
• Trade qualifications preferred but not essential.
• Knowledge of building compliance, risk management and sustainability.
• Hands-on approach required; not an administrative role.
• Strong problem-solving, logical thinking and proactivity.
• Be responsible, self-motivated with a positive hotel team attitude.
• Have rights to work in New Zealand.

Responsibilities

• Assist hotel team with day-to-day maintenance of building, plant and equipment.
• Liaise with Hotel Manager about work in guest rooms and public areas to restore out-of-service areas quickly.
• Complete tasks within 15 minutes of request where possible.
• Report completion or delays to the Manager on Duty or Front Office.
• Suggest improvements to services or procedures and log issues for the Hotel Manager.

ibis Budget is looking for a Maintenance Technician to assist the hotel team in the day-to-day operation of the maintenance requirements of the hotel.

This diverse role encompasses varying degrees of trade including painting, building maintenance or general handyman duties.

• Assisting the Hotel Manager to maintain, using safe working practices, the building, plant, equipment, fixtures and fittings to protect the asset and ensure it remains a functional, pleasant and safe environment for all guests, contractors, visitors and other employees.
• Liaise with the Hotel Manager regarding all work in guest rooms and public areas to ensure out of order areas of the hotel are brought back to use as soon as possible.
• Complete all tasks where possible within a 15 minutes time frame of receiving the request
• Report back to the Manager on Duty or Front Office the completion or delay, of any task that is guest related.
• Suggest any improvements that could be made to improve existing service or procedures, log and inform the Hotel Manager of any service or system problems.

Qualifications

Whilst talent and attitude are our primary requirements, you also have:

• At least 1 year of experience in maintenance or a similar industry; experience in the hotel or tourism industry is preferred but not required.
• Trade qualifications are preferred but not essential.
• Working knowledge of building compliance, risk management, and a passion for environmental sustainability.
• Hands-on approach required-this is not an administrative role
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to think effectively, logically, and resourcefully.
• Demonstrates responsibility, self-motivation, and proactivity, while consistently bringing a positive attitude to the hotel team.
• Have rights to Work in New Zealand
