Job summary

SouthRoads is seeking a Contract Manager to lead our Construction Siteworks crew in Southland, overseeing highway construction and rehabilitation projects across the region. We value practical know-how over paperwork and expect you to dive in from day one.

You will manage site activities, ensure safety, quality, and budget targets, and collaborate with councils to meet requirements. A strong leader with hands-on roading experience will thrive here.

Qualifications

• Hands-on roading experience with highway/rehab projects.
• Solid grip on NZTA specs and local government requirements.
• Proven leadership that teams will follow.
• Ability to hit the ground running from day one.

Responsibilities

• Lead highway construction and rehabilitation projects in Southland.
• Coordinate labour, plant and subcontractors.
• Ensure on-site quality and health and safety compliance.
• Keep projects on budget and schedule.
• Apply NZTA specifications and local council requirements.
• Prioritise safe outcomes for every shift.

About The role

You'll be running the show on highway and rehab work, including:

• Highway construction and road rehabilitation
• Applying NZTA specs, Southland District Council (SDC) and Invercargill City Council (ICC) requirements
• Coordinating labour, plant and subcontractors
• Controlling onsite quality and health and safety
• Keeping budgets on track
• Making sure everyone gets home safe, every day
