DoubleTree by Hilton Christchurch, South Island is seeking a Maintenance Manager to oversee all engineering and maintenance operations of the hotel, including energy conservation and compliance with standards. You will lead the maintenance team, coordinate with Housekeeping, and develop safety and maintenance procedures to ensure guest comfort and property integrity.

The role requires a trade qualification or equivalent, with experience in facilities management and budgeting.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Maintenance Team in day-to-day hotel maintenance operations, including service standards and work schedules.
  • Coordinate maintenance activities with Housekeeping to prioritise guest rooms and public areas.
  • Develop systems to ensure health and safety for guests and staff, and proper equipment conditions.
  • Ensure compliance with local regulations and energy conservation programs for the property.
  • Prepare budgets for Engineering, perform daily checks, diagnose and repair mechanical equipment.

As Maintenance Manager, you are responsible for the effective management of all engineering and maintenance operations within the hotel, including energy conservation. You are also responsible for the development of the Maintenance Team and staying abreast of compliance regulations and procedures in the field of Maintenance, as required for hotel standards.

Key responsibilities
  • Lead the Maintenance Team in the day-to-day maintenance operations of the hotel, including service standards, equipment schedules, and work schedules
  • Communicate with Housekeeping to coordinate and prioritize maintenance activities for Guest rooms and public areas
  • Develop systems and procedures to ensure the health and safety of Guests and Team Members, as well as the proper conditions for plants, machinery, and property
  • Communicate with local agencies to ensure full compliance with statutory regulations
  • Prepare Capital and Repairs and Maintenance budgets for Engineering
  • Perform daily checks around the hotel
  • Diagnose, maintain, and repair mechanical equipment within the hotel
  • Ensure good relationships are built with internal and external customers
  • Develop, implement, and direct all emergency programs
  • Develop, implement and manage energy conservation programs for the property to minimize expenses
About you
  • Advanced knowledge of building management/engineering
  • A qualification in a Trade, or similar
  • Exposure to budgeting and basic accounting
  • Committed to delivering a high level of customer service
  • Strong leadership skills and previous experience of managing a team
  • Flexibility to respond to a range of different work situations
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Previous experience of facilities management
