Job summary

Tekapo Springs in Lake Tekapo, New Zealand, is seeking a hands-on Maintenance Technician to help keep our attraction and assets safe, functional and clean. You will work with the Maintenance Manager and team to follow schedules, update records and support with new policies as directed.

Job description

Purpose of the position

Carry out tasks to ensure that Tekapo Springs & Tekapo Stargazing's property and assets are safe, functional and clean.

Key Accountabilities

Policies & Procedures

• Work together with the team to ensure that the maintenance schedule / calendar is followed and records are updated accurately.
• Provide assistance with writing and developing new NOP's or Policies as directed by the Maintenance Manager.
• Support the maintenance manager and the wider team in ensuring the company makes optimum use of its resources, minimises waste and is environmentally friendly.
• Abide by the work schedule and roster as set by the Maintenance Manager ensuring you are clocking in and out each day on time.

Equipment, Machinery & Vehicles

• Treat the equipment, machinery & vehicles with care ensuring they are used correctly and returned to their allocated locations after usage.
• Where possible ensure that maintenance equipment, machinery & vehicles are kept out of public view always keeping in mind the customers point of view.

Plant and Property

• Support and follow the appropriate operational policies and procedures to ensure optimal use of all property and plant.
• Take personal pride in the presentation of Tekapo Springs ensuring that a customers point of view is always considered and that the property is kept at the level expected by our customers and management team.
• Where needed support external contractors engaged at Tekapo Springs.
• Work with the Maintenance Manager to ensure the Plant is operating at peak efficiency.
• Work with the Maintenance Manager and within the Maintenance schedule to ensure all preventative maintenance is carried out effectively and efficiently minimising any potential downtime for the business.

Seasonal Activities

• As required carry out snow grooming to ensure our winter Snow Tube is performing optimally for our customers.
• Drive the Zamboni to resurface our ice rink as required to ensure an ideal surface for our customers to enjoy.
• Work with the broader business to minimise the disruptive impact of Ice and Snow clearing and salting as required.
• When weather permits and as directed assist with snow making.

Security & Response

• When required by the maintenance manager ensure you are available to respond to Code 9 callouts.

Skills & Training

• Attend relevant training courses as directed.
• Work with the Maintenance Manager to identify new developments in relevant industries and technology.
• Ensure your qualifications are kept up to date renewing them as required.

• Carry out any other responsibilities as may be reasonably required from time to time
• Ensure the company’s best interests are served at all times

Health & Safety

• Lead by example adhering to all company Health & Safety policies as well as the standards of the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 and other relevant legislation or industry standards.
• Take every precaution to ensure the company's property, machinery, vehicles and plant management policies and procedures result in a safe work-place for staff and customers.
• Contribute towards ensuring that our hazard and risk records are updated and accurate for all elements relating to Maintenance.
• Follow hazard identification processes for Tekapo Springs and ensure they are adhered to at all times.
• Ensure all pathways and driving areas are maintained and managed to provide a safe surface for walking and driving.

Desirable

1. Experience operating in the tourism industry, in particuarl Aquatic, Snow, Ice Rinks.
2. Has relevant trade expertise and/or trade qualification
