Job summary

Canstaff are seeking a skilled Electrician for a busy meat processing plant in Invercargill, NZ. You will maintain electrical systems, support production uptime, and ensure equipment runs safely and efficiently within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Ideal candidates bring proven industrial electrical experience, a current NZ Electrical Practising Licence, and the ability to troubleshoot motors, conveyors, sensors, PLCs, and control systems.

Qualifications

• Must have NZ Electrical Practising Licence (EWRB Registered Electrician).
• Proven experience in industrial or maintenance electrical work in a processing/manufacturing plant.
• Strong troubleshooting skills across motors, conveyors, sensors, PLCs, and control systems.

Responsibilities

• Carry out electrical maintenance, repairs, troubleshooting, and servicing across the plant.
• Respond to breakdowns promptly to minimise downtime.
• Conduct preventative and predictive maintenance aligned with production schedules.
• Assist with planning and execution of shutdown works and large-scale projects.
• Ensure electrical systems comply with NZ standards and site safety policies.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation.
• Support mechanical team as required within electrical duties.
• Promote safety culture and GMP hygiene compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

Carry out electrical maintenance, repairs, troubleshooting, and servicing across the plant

Experience & Requirements:

Must hold a current NZ Electrical Practising Licence (EWRB Registered Electrician)

Proven experience working as an industrial or maintenance electrician

Previous employment in a processing plant is highly advantageous

Strong troubleshooting ability across motors, conveyors, sensors, PLCs, control systems, and automated machinery

Comfortable working with high-speed production equipment

Experience supporting shutdowns, upgrades, and project work

Ability to work independently and prioritise tasks effectively

Strong communication skills and a proactive, hardworking attitude

Must be able to pass:
